The oldest courthouse in California still in use, the Mariposa County Courthouse, was built in 1854, using white pine lumber and wooden pegs. The second floor still contains original furnishings. The Superior Court of California, County of Mariposa is a unified superior court, served by two judges, one commissioner, and 12 employees.
Free guided tours are given Friday evening, all day Saturday, and afternoons on Sundays, May through September.
