North Coast Region

The North Coast Region of California consists of rugged shoreline and surf, towering redwood forests and rushing rivers, and of rolling hills and bountiful vineyards. The North Coast region of California mixes urban and rural, agricultural and sylvan, in the sort of mix that is characteristic of the diversity of California.

This region features Six Rivers and Mendocino National Forests, 23 state parks, five state recreational areas, seven state historic parks, and six state reserves. Summers and winters in the area are mild.

The North Coast Region, stretches 400 miles, from just north of San Francisco to the Oregon border. The main highways accessing this region are 1 and 101 running north/south Highway 101 connects the region as the most traveled highway, with Highway 1 offering the very adventurous and close-up view of the Pacific Coast.
