The small town of Chimney Rock is located in Archuleta County east of Durango on the banks of the Piedra River near the New Mexico border. The Chimney Rock Archaeological Area covers over 3,000 acres of the San Juan National Forest. This amazing center of Native American civilization of over 1,000 years ago provides visitors with a glimpse into the past, with interpretive tours daily.
