Situated in the beautiful Yampa River Valley, in Moffat County, Craig is the county seat and serves as the terminus for a scenic 200-mile stretch of Hwy 40 to Denver. The nearby Yampa and Green rivers and surrounding mountains and canyons provide habitat for wildlife like elk, deer and antelope. Elkhead Reservoir is just nine miles northeast of downtown. Browns Park National Wildlife Refuge is also nearby. Craig serves as the Colorado entrance to Dinosaur National Monument, 90 miles to the west.
