Highway of Legends Scenic Byway

The Highway of Legends links Walsenburg and Trinidad via Highway 12. Both cities lie along Interstate 25 in the southeastern corner of the State. The Scenic Byway follows the Cucharas River north of the pass then leads into the Purgatory River Valley. The byway provides beautiful views of the Spanish Peaks as it leads southward through the San Isabel National Forest. The Sangre de Cristo Mountain Range lies to the west of the byway.
