At the base of the Grand Mesa, the world?s highest flat topped mountain, and nestled between the confluence of the Gunnison and Uncompahgre Rivers, Delta County Memorial Hospital was established in 1920, when the first non-profit hospital was opened at 7th and Grand in a converted private home. Today, Delta County Memorial Hospital consists of a 49 bed JCAHO accredited facility on Garnet Mesa, overlooking the Gunnison River and Grand Mesa. Delta Hospital is owned and operated by the residents of Delta County, for the residents of Delta County. A five member elected Board of Directors from towns through out the county, oversees the operation of the facility. The Board Members are volunteers, who serve the citizens of the county, in addition to working full-time in their jobs and businesses. The Hospital Administrator and Department Managers, who supervise a staff of approximately 320 employees, direct the day to day operation of the facility.
