Redstone Colorado

Taking its name from the valley's bright red sandstone, Redstone began as an industrial village built at the turn of the 20th century by John Cleveland Osgood -- cousin to President Grover Cleveland and one of the wealthiest industrialists of his day -- to house the men who worked in his coal mines. Redstone sported cottages for families, an inn for bachelors, and for himself Osgood built the splendid (Redstone Castle). Tours of the manor are available by reservation.

A cross-country loop, known as the Town Trail, passes an old miner's cabin and one room schoolhouse.
