Built in the late 19th century as an original stage stop, the Stagecoach Inn is a monument to western tradition. Today they are known for choice Colorado beef, slow roast buffalo and award winning seafood. Credible accounts have identified the rustic log structure which houses the entrance, parlor and lounge of the Stagecoach as Helen Hunt Jackson's summer cottage, built in 1881. The barn like structure which houses the main dining room, side porch and kitchen was the first electric company in Manitou Springs -- the generator was powered by a 45 foot diameter water wheel in Fountain Creek.
