Nestled below Independence Pass, the Twin Lakes area offers spectacular mountain scenery. The lakes, formed by glacial activity, were enlarged to provide water storage for the ever-thirsty urban areas along Colorado's Front Range. Twin Lakes covers 1,700 surface acres and has a maximum depth of 70 feet.
