Bentara Restaurant |
This is the second BENTARA RESTAURANT (BR) established anywhere, and the first in United States. The first BR was opened in 1980 in Ketereh, Kelantan, Malaysia. While Chinese are famous for chopsticks, and European for knives and forks, Malays use both but only with the right hand. When eating fried rice or different varieties of noodles, fork and spoon are used. Most dishes in the Malaysian diet are hot and spicy. Red hot chili peppers and varieties of spices including coriander, star anise, cardamom, cumin and others are widely used in Malaysian cooking. One dish that has been associated with Malaysia is satay; skewered meat grilled over charcoal and served with coconut milk peanut sauce.
