Oldest remaining house in Wethersfield, the oldest settlement in Connecticut, the austere exterior and small casement windows of the Buttolph-Williams House (c.1720), exemplifies the conservative tastes of early Connecticut citizens. The house was used by author Elizabeth Speare as a setting for the children's classic Witch of Blackbird Pond. Admission is included in the Webb-Deane-Stevens Museum tour, or may be purchased separately. Open Wed-Mon, May-Oct 10am-4pm. Closed Sat-Sun Nov-Apr.
