Denison Homestead |
Built in 1717 by George Denison, the Denison Homestead Museum is located on 200 acres of meadows and woodlands and is a treasure trove of heirlooms from six generations, or more than 200 years of Denison family history showing coastal New England from 1654 to the present. Each room represents a different era in American history, furnished with Denison heirlooms. The Homestead offers glimpses into Colonial times, the Revolutionary War era, the Federal period, the Victorian era, and finally the affluent post World War I period of the 1920's and 30's.
The property is located in Stonington but is maintained by the Denison Society located in Mystic.
