East Hartford is located in Hartford County on Highway 5, (John Fitch Blvd), across the Connecticut River east of Hartford.East Hartford was settled 1640 as part of Hartford, and Incorporated in 1783 as a seperate town. Today it covers 18.7 square miles and has a population of about 50,452.
