The First Church, a member of the United Church of Christ, has been in continual service for 370 years, since the landing of the Mary and John that sailed from Plymouth, England in 1630. It is the oldest religious community in the state and one of the oldest Christian congregations in the U.S. The Meeting House is the fourth such, built over 270 years ago, with many capital renovations. The adjoining cemetery dates to the 1600s.
