Lyme Art Association Gallery

Formed quietly in 1899, this artists' colony in Old Lyme became the most important art center in the country, and is now its oldest of distinction. Childe Hassam's arrival in 1903 attracted many others as this group developed into "the most famous Impressionist-oriented art colony in America."
