Mattatuck Museum

Located on Main St., facing the green, the museum is run by the Mattatuck Historical Society. The museum displays decorative arts and 18th and 19th century landscape and portrait paintings and sculpture by Connecticut artists. Local history exhibits, one of which highlights the industrial history of the area 1700-1950, also are presented. A second-floor gallery displays contemporary paintings by Connecticut artists. Of interest is Charles Goodyear's rubber desk.

Open Tuesday - Saturday 10am-5pm, Sunday noon-5pm in September through June.
