Monte Cristo Cottage

Search New London Connecticut

The cottage was the boyhood home of Eugene O'Neil, Nobel Prize winner and one of America's great dramatists. The setting for his most famous plays, "Long Day's Journey into Night," and "Ah, Wilderness!", the cottage contains O'Neil memorabilia; a short multimedia presentation introduces visitors to the playwright.

Named in honor of his actor fathers most popular role, the 1840s cottage is both a Registered National Landmark and a museum for ONeill, Americas only Nobel Prize-winning playwright. The Monte Cristo Cottage was purchased by the Eugene ONeill Theater Center in 1974.
