Explorers Hall

National Geographic Society

Located on 17th and M Streets, this hall contains an interactive geography science center featuring exhibits depicting famous National Geographic sponsored expeditions. The hall emcompasses the entire first floor of the building; its centerpeice is an 11 foot sphere, Earth Station One, said to be the world's largest free-standing, hand painted globe. The globe illustrates such detail as the relief of the ocean floor.

Open 9am-5pm Monday through Saturday; closed major holidays.
