Gallaudet University

Founded in 1864 as a univerity exclusively for deaf and hard-of-hearing students, Gallaudet offers programs in liberal and fine arts, teacher preparation, and professional training. The student body of around 1200 comes from all 50 states and Canada. Sororities and fraternities are active. bout half of students live on campus.
