Emerson Preparatory School is Washington's oldest co-ed college preparatory school. It was founded in 1852 by Charles B. Young, and named after Dr. George Barrell Emerson, the noted New England educator and Harvard professor. In recent years Emerson's graduates have been accepted to colleges and universities that are among the finest in the country and abroad. Over 95% of its students typically enroll in institutions of higher education immediately upon graduation.
