Castle Howard

This historic structure was constructed in 1699, and has been open to the public since the day it was built. Among Castle Howard's treasures are magnificent collections of furniture, paintings, porcelain and statuary, all on view inside the house. Set on over 1,000 acres of parkland, the estate is highlighted by lawns, woodland gardens, lakes, fountains and superb rose gardens. See old and modern roses, a unique collection of rare trees, shrubs, rhododendrons, magnolias and azaleas. Inclusive ticket covers entry to the House, Grounds and Gardens, Adventure Playgrounds, Exhibition Wing, Gift and Craft Shops, Plant Centre and Cafeterias. An optional attraction is the Victorian-style motor launch operating on the Great Lake during summer months (weather permitting). Open mid-March to early November.
