Ancestral home of the Throckmortons, Coughton Court features an impressive central Gatehouse, built in 1530, and a Tudor courtyard with an Elizabethan Knot garden. Other highlights of the property include a new 1 1/2-acre flower garden in the old walled garden by the lake, a Bog Garden, and river and lake walks. A collection of family portraits, furniture and historic items associated with the Gunpowder Plot of 1605 are displayed in the house. Exhibits relating to the Gundpowder Plot, gardens, and a collection of children's clothing are included in the admission price. Gift shop and restaurant on site. Open mid-March to the end of October.
