At nearly 15,000 residents, Dorchester is known as Thomas Hardy's
town, where he lived and wrote for many years. During the
preparations for D-day, Dorchester also became a major US military
center. A popular attraction is Maiden Castle, a fort believed
to be over 4,000 years old. Dorchester is located in Southwest
England.
