Herstmonceux Castle

Herstmonceux is renowned for its magnificent moated castle, accented by beautiful parkland and superb Elizabethan gardens. Built in the mid-15th century, Herstmonceux Castle embodies the history and romance of Medieval England. Visitors are invited to walk through the Elizabethan walled gardens and woodland trails, rhododendron gardens, rose garden, herb garden, lily-covered lakes and 1930s folly. Visitor facilties include a gift shop, tearoom, visitors center, nature trail, children's play area, and science center. The castle is not open to the public; guided tours are conducted Sunday-Friday, subject to availability. Accommodation for visitors is provided in Bader Hall, just a short walk from the castle across the grounds. Private guests rooms offer ensuite bathrooms, telephones, television, and tea/coffee service. Open daily, April-October.
