Lyme Regis

Lyme Regis is known for its old stone pier, the Cobb, portrayed

in the Meryl Streep film, 'The French Lieutenant's Woman.' Writer

Jane Austen had a cottage here called Wings and used the

area's scenery in her book, Persuasion. The chalk cliffs

are filled with fossil formations and remains. An Ichthyosaurus

was found here in 1811.
