The Potteries is a district in the upper valley of the Trent in north Staffordshire. Its name derives from the fact that pottery of all description has been manufactured here. It includes Stoke, Hanley, Burslem, Longton, Tunstal, and Fenton, united in 1910 into the county borough of Stoke-on-Trent.
