Baldwin is located in
Duval County on the western city limits of
Jacksonville between
Callahan and
Starke along US Highway 301 near the St Marys River and the Georgia state line. The population estimate for July 1, 1998 was 1,522, an increase of 72 since 1990.
Nearly four centuries ago the Spaniards built a road from coast to coast across the northern part of Florida. By the year 1835 a frontier stagecoach line crossed what was later to become known as the "Old Spanish Trail" at the point we know call Baldwin.
