The Constitution Convention Museum, located at the 13.5-acre site marking Florida's first state convention, is the featured topic of exhibits here. History relating to the vanished city of St Joseph are also featured in the museum at Port St Joe.
A monument to the constitution was erected on the grounds in 1922, which bears the names of delegates engraved in marble. A museum building was later added, which opened to the public in 1955. Visitors are greeted by life-size audio-animated mannequins as a self-guided tour leads visitors through the convention hall.
The museum is situated within one of the state's most impressive parks, St Joseph Peninsula, located south of Panama City on coastal US 98. With over 20 miles of shoreline that feature the bay on the east side, and the gulf on the west side, this park has it all. Special interpretive programs and tours for groups can be arranged. A museum visitor center is open Thursday-Monday, closed major holidays.
