A 2,400-acre coastal park located on a barrier island midway between St Augustine and Jacksonville, it includes 17 known significant historic or prehistoric cultural sites. Recreational activities here are many: hiking and biking are popular along the more than 9 miles of nature trails and old service roads; boating and fishing are available year-round; and the lake also offers crabbing and shrimping. The park currently has 2 beach public access facilities consisting of parking and dune crossover boardwalks along a 4.2 mile stretch on the Atlantic ocean. There are no overnight camping facilities in the park, nor developed picnic areas, although picnicking is permitted in the park.
