Lake Placid

Lake Placid is located in Highlands County east of Arcadia between Lake Placid and Lake June along US Highway 27 near Lake Okeechobee.

There is also a Lake Placid, New York.

As the first settler, Thomas Knight brought the first citrus trees to the area in 1869.

On April 29, 1927 the Lake Stearns Commissioners accepted a proposal to change the town's name from Lake Stearns to Lake Placid and approved the attorney to submit request to the State Legislature.
