Located across the road from the Musee Memorial de la Bataille de Normandie, the British war cemetery at Bayeux contains the graves of 4,144 Commonwealth soldiers who died during World War II, 338 of whom are unidentified plus 505 of other nationalities, mostly German. Opposite, a memorial has been raised in memory of those who fought to liberate Europe.
