Bergues is a small city of great character, still entirely surrounded by its old walls, nestled at the foot of its belfry. From the belfry to the towers of the abbey of Saint Winoc and even the old pawn shop (now the Mont de Piete Town Museum), there is much to discover. Aboard a reproduction 1900 tramcar, visitors can explore Bergues on a 30-minute tour with commentary. The tramcar's wide-bow windows offer an excellent view. Tours depart from the belfry every afternoon. Visitors may also visit the Espace Beffroi located in the Tourist Office of Bergues, where exhibitions and an information bureau have been set up. Climb the 191 steps to the top of the belfry to see its carillon and enjoy the view over the town and the surrounding countryside.
