Rue Bourbonnoux leads visitors to St-Etienne Cathedral. Constructed between the late 12th and late 13th centuries, is one of the great masterpieces of Gothic art and was designated a UNESCO World Heritage site in 1992. The widest Gothic cathedral in France, it is modeled on the Notre-Dame in Paris. St-Etienne Cathedral is characterized by its delicate flying buttresses and is noted for its tympanum, sculptures and stained-glass windows. Views of the restored medieval quarter of Bourges and the marshes that lie beyond can be enjoyed from the top of the cathedral s north tower.
