Once used as the court of the Dukes of Burgundy, the palace, as it appears today, was built mainly in the 17th century for Parliament. The only reminders of the older building are the 14th-century Tour de Bar, which now houses the Musee des Beaux-Arts, and the 15th-century Tour Phillipe-le-Bon, whose terrace, it is said, affords a view of Mont Blanc on a clear day.
