Cathedrale Notre-Dame

Search Rouen

Dominated by the famous west facade, immortalized in a series of paintings by Claude Monet (now on display at the Musee dOrsay in Paris), the cathedral was consecrated in 1063. It retains its 11th- to 12th-century Gothic flare although it was reconstructed after suffering damage during WWII. The cathedral houses the tomb of Richard the Lionheart, whose heart in buried there.
