Located on the public square on College Street, this museum honors the doctor who in 1842 used sulfuric ether as an anesthetic to perform the first painless surgical operation. The three-building museum complex occupies the site of Dr. Long's office. Exhibits deal with Dr. Long's life and the history of anesthetics. The complex also includes a 19th century doctor's office, an apothecary shop, a general store and an herb garden.
