Hay House

Located on Georgia Avenue, Hay House is a 24-room Italian Renaissance revival villa built by Macon entrepreneur William B. Johnston. Begun in 1855, it took 5 years to complete. The house had modern amenities for that era, including indoor bathrooms, an elevator, a ventilating system and an intricate plumbing system. The entrance hall features 19th century hand-painted faux marble trompe l'oeil walls.

Tours are available, hours of operation vary.
