Lapham-Patterson House St. Historic Site |
Located on North Dawson Street, this house bears the names of its first and last owners. Each room in the asymmetrical 1884 home is a different shape and none is square. The house, built as a winter cottage for properous merchant C.W. Lapham, has a gas lighting system, a cantilevered balcony and an ususual double-gle chimney with a walk through stairway. Other innovations included hot and cold running water, indoor plumbing and modern closets.
Tours begin on the hour Tuesday thorugh Saturday 9am-5pm, Sunday 2pm-5:30pm; closed holidays.
