Lookout Mountain is located in
Walker County north of
Rome along Interstate 59 near the Chickamauga and Chattanooga National Military Park in the
Mountains Region of the state. Situated in the extreme northeast corner of Georgia on the Tennessee state line.
Lookout Mountain is part of the Chattanooga, Tennessee-Georgia metro area.
Historic museums include the Battles for Chattanooga Museum.
