Located on South Main Street, this 1895 building was one of the first brick grade schools in the South. The center includes a museum with 19th century regional artifacts and decorative arts, a restored early 20th century classroom and four art galleries with changing exhibits. Permanently displayed, the Boxwood Parlor is an exact replica of an 1850 Rococo Renaissance parlor, complete with the original furnishings. The Center exemplifies an ongoing community focus on historic preservation.
