Rock Eagle Mound is part of the $20 million Rock Eagle Youth Center. There is a tower of natural stone from which the mound can be viewed. Evidence suggests that the mound was constructed approximately 50 centuries ago. The mound in the shape of an eagle, measures 102 feet from head to tail and 120 feet from wingtip to wingtip. The body rises to about ten feet above the surrounding ground's surface. It is constructed entirely of milky quartz rocks and boulders ranging in size from baseball sized to large basketball sized boulders. The religious purpose of the rock of the mound is emphasized by the fact that there are no potsherds, arrowheads or other artifacts in the vicinity. Always open and tour groups welcome. Directions - Hwy 441North to Madison approximately 5.5 miles to Rock Eagle 4-H Center entrance. Follow the signs to the mound.
