Visitors can take free self-guided tours of the garden and orchids sheltered from the frequent showers on this side of Hawaii the Big Island. It is located 22.5 miles out of Hilo on Hwy 11. It is open daily 8:30am to 5pm and no admission is charged. Akatsuka Orchid Garden recently celebrated its 30th year.
