The Lyman Museum began as the Lyman Mission House in 1839. The museum showcases the natural and cultural history of Hawaii. It also features collections of seashells and minerals, ancient art of China, artists of Hawaii, and changing special exhibitions. Many community programs and events are held each year. The museum houses two exhibit galleries - the Earth Heritage for natural history and the Island Heritage for cultural history.

Annual Maui Steel Guitar Festival Maui HI April19-21 Featured performers will also conduct on-site school visits to various Maui schools to educate and and inform Maui's youth about the Hawaiian steel guitar. Merrie Monarch Festival Hilo HI June7-9 Merrie Monarch Festival is a week-long cultural event held annually in Hilo on the island of Hawaii. Festivities start on Easter Sunday and culminate with the Hula competition events at the Edith Kanaka'ole Tennis Stadium - Miss Aloha Hula on Thursday, Hula Kahiko on Friday, and Hula 'Auana on Saturday.
