Damien Museum

This small two room museum is around the corner in the back of St Augustine's Church. It shows the life and times of Fr Joseph Damien de Veuster who came to Molokai Island to work with lepers who had been banished there.

He eventually caught the disease himself and died of it. Now called Hansen's disease, it has been eradicated in Hawaii. Father Damien is considered a saint for his selfless devotion to the terminally ill.

There is a 20 minute video that depicts the priest's life that is shown at the museum. It is open weekdays 9am to 3pm and Saturday 9am to noon. Admission is free.
