This architectural masterpiece has several motifs depicting Hawaiian history and culture. The columns resemble coconut trees, the legislative chambers are shaped to look like volcano cinder cones and the central court stands for an open society.
Two reflecting pools surround the structure, as the islands themselves are surrounded by water. The structure was built in 1969 and has a statue of Queen Likiuokalani, the last reigning monarch, and a statue of Father Damien in front.
It is located on S Beretania St between Punchbown and Richards Sts.
