Bruneau and Jarbridge Rivers

Search Visit Idaho

These two desert rivers in the southwest corner of Idaho can be run for at most a couple of months and sometimes only a few weeks in the spring. The Bruneau River, which has carved the Bruneau Canyon, features Five-Mile rapids, which drops 100 feet per mile for nearly five miles. The Jarbridge is only 25 miles long, and is steep and rocky.
