Catch A Steelhead While You Still Can

Fishing for steelhead (ocean-going rainbow trout) may be curtailed in coming years, but for now it is still possible to hook and keep up to two steelhead a day on the Salmon River. On a trip with White Water West Outfitters, you can sample the feeling of hooking a huge 10-pound fish that will make you reel squeal. If you're fortunate enough to catch a hatchery-reared fish (identified by its clipped fin), you can keep the fish and enjoy it for dinner.

White Water West also stops at historic sites along the Salmon River for sight-seeing. At the end of the day, soak in a natural hot springs 10 minutes from the lodge and enjoy a Dutch oven meal.
