Clearwater Fish Hatchery |
Ths hatchery is operated by the Idaho Department of Fish and Game and is the largest hatchery ever constructed by the Army Corp of Engineers. It produces chinook salmon and steelhead trout.
There are also three remote trapping and rearing facilities for chinook salmon, located at Powell, Red River Ranger Station, and Crooked River near Elk City.
The main Clearwater Hatchery and visitor center is open year round from 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Pacific Time daily. The satellite facilities are open for visitation from mid-May through October 1 while attendants are on the station. Group tours can be arranged by calling first.
