Constructed by the Army Corp of Engineers and it is operated by the US Department of the Interior's Fish and Wildlife Service construction was completed in 1969. A self-guided tour includes informational signs and brochures, and is well worth the visit to discover the life cycle of these magnificent sea-going fish. An eight-minute video, "Your National Fish Hatchery," describes the fisheries activities. Adult fish can be viewed December - April and July - September.
