The Historical Museum at St. Gertrude's has over 64,000 artifacts with about 12,000 on display, most of which are related to the history of north central Idaho. The artifacts cover mining, agriculture, logging, Native Americans, and the pioneer settlement of the area. Since the museum was originally established by the sisters of the Monastery of St. Gertrude, the museum tells the story of their arrival and settlement on the Camas Prairie as well. The monastery, located next to the museum, still is a functioning Benedictine monastery with about 70 sisters who call it home. The museum also has an exquisite collection of Asian artifacts dating back to the Ming Dynasty in the 17th century.
The museum is open everyday except Monday. Contact the museum for current hours and admission.
